Course Description:
– A clinical guide on restorative and non-restorative treatments for carious lesions in permanent teeth

Learning Objectives:
– Review the International Caries Detection and Assessment System (ICDAS).
– Provide the audience with an evidence-based clinical practice guideline on restorative and nonrestorative treatments for carious lesions in permanent teeth.
– Provide guidelines for dental healthcare providers to manage dental caries in adults based upon caries risk assessment.

About the Speaker:
Dr. Camila A. Zamperini is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). Dr. Zamperini teaches in the disciplines of Dental Materials, Operative Dentistry, and Digital Dentistry. She also serves as co-director of the Digital Dentistry preclinical course.

Dr. Zamperini received her DDS (2006) and PhD (2011) from the Sao Paulo State University. Following, she was a post-doc fellow at the Sao Paulo State University (2011-2013) and the University of Illinois Chicago (2014-2018). She recently completed a Residency in Operative Dentistry at the University of Iowa (2018-2020).

As a clinician-scientist, Dr. Zamperini seeks to bridge the gap between research and clinical practice. Combining her experience as a dentist and research background, she focuses on developing innovative anti-biofilm and anti-caries strategies and investigating the immune-microbial interactions relevant to caries progression.
