General Arrangements Committee

Committee Purpose
The General Arrangements Committee (GAC) shall:

  • Provide information and directional assistance to Midwinter Meeting attendees.
  • Provide sign requirements for the Midwinter Meeting.
  • Manage obsolete signs.
  • Coordinate with staff and various convention service groups any matters brought to the Committee’s attention, including housekeeping, audio-video/equipment problems, heating-ventilation issues, security, etc.
  • Function as the lost and found center.
  • Assist in the operation of Information and Message centers.
    • Structure and Composition
    The Midwinter Meeting General Arrangements Committee shall consist of twelve members.

    Annually, the CDS President-Elect, Secretary, and Vice President shall appoint the Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary, respectively, and each of these three CDS Officers shall also appoint one additional member to the Committee.

    In addition, the nine branches shall have one representative appointed to this committee for three years by the Branch Director. The branch appointment terms shall be staggered so that one-third of the branch appointments will be subject to change each year. Branch appointments are limited to two three-year terms; branch appointments to consecutive terms are prohibited.

    Time Commitment:

    Appointment to the committee requires a full-time commitment for the duration of the meeting, including day(s) setup as determined by the Chair.

    The Chair may also call planning meetings any time during the year, which all members must attend.
